The Coop seeks to offer experienced English Second Language teachers and translators challenging work, competitive remuneration and the possibility to develop their careers within the Coop, whilst at the same time offering high quality language services to its clients.   Employment and membership   Teachers and translators who work for the Coop hired as employees. Their initial status, apart from being employees of the Coop, is auxiliary members of the Coop. Following 500 hours of work for the Coop, an auxiliary member is eligible to become a full member.   Full members have equal voting rights and may put themselves forward for election to the Board of Directors of the Coop. Any full member may become a director of the Coop.   Full members have certain privileges over auxiliary members, such as priority in the allocation of work and the right to vote and stand for office, but both auxiliary members and full members are entitled to share in the profits of the Coop.   Salary and expenses   The Coop pays its employees for their time and reimburses the expenses they incur while on the Coop’s business, in accordance with the guidelines set out by Revenue Canada and Revenue Quebec.   Members, both auxiliary and full, are paid not only for each hour they work, but also, in the case of teaching, they are also remunerated for preparation, evaluation and travel time.   In addition, a comprehensive and competitive policy is in force which ensures that members are properly reimbursed for using their own vehicles on Coop business. The Coop pays employment insurance and other statutory contributions on behalf of its members, including the 4% holiday pay.   Profits made by the Coop are distributed to the members, both full and auxiliary, on the basis of the total hours worked by the member for the Coop over the previous 4 years.
